Recently we have talked a lot about the theory of memes and getting involved with people but so far we have given little by way of examples that you can use. For example it should be clear that a meme is some activity that others copy and you yourself have copied.

In this post will be a practical demonstration of meme participation as well as an examination of the issues surrounding it.

A lot of memes are extremely self referential and of little interest to your readers.

This meme has been selected because it is not like that.

Participation is not pushed upon you - it is a voluntary undertaking.

Before we get into that, however, I am going to touch on some issues of any site that makes lists of top anything. The list must by it's very definition excluded most of the items for that category.

With blogging there is no difference. The so called A List of bloggers take the lions share of the attention and when listed as such this simply reinforces the current set up without allowing potentially better but newer bloggers to break into the public eye.

If an A List exists then potentially a B List of blogs and bloggers that are almost A List must also exist.

To follow on from this idea a Z List of utter unknowns might also be said to exist.

This meme is a somewhat subversive idea to take the very idea of the A List on it's head by allowing the community to grow and link to their own defined Z List.

It started here and we picked it up here

  • Create a new post on your blog
  • Copy and Paste the entire list of blog links below
  • Add any blogs that you want to include near the top of the list. (This isn’t compulsory, so you can either add as many blogs as you want or none at all.)
  • Include the blog where you first got the list from, on the list in your post
  • Do not include your own blog links on the list in your post
  • Make sure that all links point to each blog’s homepage
  • Publish the Post

  • Added to the list below is just one new link but everything else (including the link to us) has been left as is. Each of these sites are worth a visit and each one worth a read.
